Yoga for Bigger Bodies in person classes are held at The People's Yoga in NE Portland (TPY) or at The Bhakti Yoga Movement Center in SE Portland (BYMC). Each TPY class is a 6 week series for $125.00 USD. BYMC series duration and pricing varies. By making these classes a workshop series, we have found that it creates a safe space for collective care and community which allows people to feel more confident and connected to themselves and others.

We encourage you to plan ahead and register early for each series as they tend to sell out!
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Our classes are gentle to moderate asana Yoga classes. These classes honor Yoga’s roots and will include Sanskrit and Yoga philosophy which explore the ethical practices such as Ahimsa (non-harm), self-study (Svadhyaya), and mind/body/spirit connection. We’ll provide you with tools and support that will help build strength, flexibility, confidence, body trust and liberation.
Beginner’s Only is designed for students who are unfamiliar with Yoga or perhaps haven’t practiced in quite a long time and want learn the basics. It will be a gentle, slow and steady practice with detailed cues, demonstration and teaching including how to use yoga props for support and accessible asana variations. This class is only offered in person a few times a year.
Gentle Flow is designed for students who are familiar with Yoga but perhaps haven’t practiced regularly and want a gentle, slow and steady practice with moderate cues and demonstration/instruction including how to use yoga props for support. This class is regularly offered in person and on demand videos.
Moderate Flow is designed for students who already have a regular practice and want a more active, joyful movement class without the need for lots of details, cues and demonstration. This class includes more challenging asanas and a steady flow using yoga props. This class is regularly offered in person.
Classes are open to all shapes, ability levels and sizes. They are inclusive, fat positive, body neutral and non-judgmental classes that emphasizes Health At Every Size® (HAES), embodiment and joyful movement. There is no weight requirement and everyone is welcome!
Registration for all series is required and sell out quickly! We encourage you to register in advance.
UNCEDED LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Yoga for Bigger Bodies is held in person and via livestream from Portland, Oregon. Portland was created through systems and policies of racism, genocide, relocation and assimilation impacting the Native American and Indigenous tribes of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla and many other tribes who still live here today. I want to acknowledge and honor all Indigenous communities for their sacrifices and am extremely humbled and grateful for their continued presence, wisdom and caretaking of this land.
